Welcome to the home of the award winning Morton Ranch High School Orchestra website, a Katy ISD Fine Arts program.
The mission of the MRHSO Program is to teach students about diversity, culture and history through music, and how to make a positive impact on society through performance. In a technologically driven society, students need to find a way to express themselves creatively. By reinforcing confidence, dedication, teamwork, self-discipline, hard work and accountability - students learn how to become responsible citizens after their studies at MRHS.
There are five different Orchestras at MRHS: Sinfonia (Varsity), Camerata (Non-Varsity), Chamber Purple (Sub Non-Varsity A) and Chamber White (Sub Non-Varsity B). Both Chamber Purple and Chamber White students combine to form Chamber (Sub Non-Varsity) for UIL Contest. Sinfonia and Camerata combine to make the MRHS Symphony Orchestra for Varsity UIL Full Orchestra Contest. The Orchestras have consistently received superior ratings by the University Interscholastic League. MRHSO has won first place division in the small and large categories at the Texas Renaissance Early Music Festival. During the 2019-20 school year MRHSO was a Houston Symphony Residency recipient and performed the National Anthem at an Astros game! We have an after school Mariachi Ensemble for students in Band, Choir, Orchestra and anyone interested on campus.
The Officer Leadership Team helps create and enhance the student body community and overall student morale. Many alumni of the program have received scholarships to attend Colleges and Universities for participating and excelling in Orchestra. Every year Orchestra has several students in the Top 10 MRHS Senior Ranking. In the 2021 school year we had the MRHS Valedictorian, Jennie Le in the program.
